Erasmus+ and Creative Europe
The Discovering the Archaeologists of Europe 2014 project is funded under the European Union’s Lifelong Learning Programme. This was a funding stream that delivered training-related projects that started between 2007-13. This has now been replaced by Erasmus+, and the first call for new proposals was published in December 2013.
This call has been published with links to versions in all EU languages at http://new.eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=uriserv:OJ.C_.2013.362.01.0062.01.ENG
The way funding will be delivered will not be the same for Erasmus+ projects as it was for Lifelong Learning Programme projects.
Cooperation projects (like Discovering the Archaeologists of Europe 2014) are under Key Action 2: cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practice.
The initial deadlines for application are very soon – mid-March for Key Action 1, the end of April for KA2 and 3; there will be annual deadlines for applications until 2020.
Part of the intention of bringing you all together in our current project was to hopefully help you to set up new partnerships, and new projects – so please do talk to each other about any ideas you might have! York Archaeological Trust would be very interested in getting involved to cooperate in projects with partners, so please do contact me at kaitchison@yorkat.co.uk.
Separately, the Culture Programme has been replaced by Creative Europe. Under the Culture sub-programme – European cooperation projects, where there might be potential for some of us to work together – the deadline is even sooner – 5 March 2014. This is partly because there will be a second call in July 2014, before there are then annual calls every July from 2015-2019.
The European Union will fund up to 60% of the costs of smaller scale cooperation projects (two years in length, at least three partners, maximum total budget €200,000) or 50% of the costs of larger scale cooperation projects (up to five years in length, at least six partners, maximum total budget €2,000,000).
Again, do consider putting together a project under Creative Europe – these first main objective of the programme is to support the capacity of the European cultural and creative sectors to operate transnationally and internationally, and I’m sure many of us are interested in developing initiatives in this area.
